Starting and stopping Web services

Starting the Web server

    File services must be available before you can start the Web server. For more information, see Starting and stopping the file server.

    To start Web services:
    1 Open Mac OS Server Admin and log on to the server you want to administer.
    2 Press the Web Services button and choose Start Web Server.

    Making your Web site available on the Internet:
    You need to turn on guest access if you want anyone on your network or the Internet (if you are connected to it) to view your Web site without giving a name or password.

    To make your Web site accessible to anyone on the Internet:
    1 Open Mac OS Server Admin and log on to the server you want to administer.
    2 Press the Web Services button and choose Configure Web Server.
    3 In the General panel, select "Allow Guest access."
    Make sure that you have assigned access privileges (other than None) to the Everyone category for your Web folder.
    4 Click Save and close the Web Server Settings window.

Stopping the Web server

    To stop Web services:
    1 Open Mac OS Server Admin and log on to the server you want to administer.
    2 Press the Web Services button and choose Stop Web Server.
    Users connected to your Web site are disconnected immediately.
